The Concept

Four elements make it unrepeatable.

17
Celebrity-led stages
Each stage of 200 runners is captained by a global celebrity or athlete, driving media coverage and fan engagement.
16
Bi-weekly handovers
Every other Sunday, ceremonial baton handovers in iconic cities with fan zones and sponsor activations.
9
World records
Including the first relay circumnavigation, the longest relay run, and most participants in a relay.
365
Days of storytelling
Continuous content generation and global media coverage throughout the entire journey.
The People

One global icon leads every stage.

Each of the 17 stages is fronted by a celebrity captain, from world-class athletes and adventurers to cultural figures, supporting their team to carry the baton through their region of the world.

  • Global reach
Each captain brings their own worldwide audience, multiplying the event's media footprint across 17 markets.
  • On the ground
Captains don't just lend a name. They can run their stage and hand over the baton in person.
  • One lead ambassador
A single headline figure anchors the roster, embodying the mission and uniting all 17 teams behind one story.
Runner in motion

200 runners per stage, one team.

Each stage gathers 200 runners who collectively carry the baton ~3,066 km in 14 days, led by a celebrity captain, finishing at the stage handover. Every runner covers at least 10 km.

The proposed route around the world.

50,600 km across 44 countries, 6 continents and 17 stages. Start and finish in London, connected by one baton, with Pacific and Atlantic crossings by sea.

The Crossings

16 handovers in iconic cities.

Every other Sunday, teams gather in iconic host cities for a ceremonial baton handover, each a festival of fan zones, culture and global media.

Seas & Oceans

Maintaining momentum across water.

Captained across all maritime stages by Lewis Pugh, endurance swimmer and UN Patron of the Oceans.

  • Sustainable transport
Human-powered crossings where feasible (swim, row, SUP, sail), plus sustainable shipping and carbon-offset flights.
  • Impact & legacy
Partnerships with ocean-conservation NGOs and educational content, as the first land circumnavigation to highlight ocean protection.
The Symbol

The symbol connecting the world.

A unique, proprietary symbol created exclusively for the project. More than a baton: an intelligent, connected device.
